briefsenden.com is an online service by AutoLetter GmbH that lets you send real letters straight from your browser. We print and envelope your letters and hand them over to Deutsche Post.
Anyone with a sender address in Germany. Deutsche Post requires a complete German sender address (five-digit German postcode) on every letter, so you set up a sender profile with a German address before sending. Recipients can be in Germany or abroad.
The website is available in English. The dashboard, emails and legal documents are currently in German.
Upload a PDF or design your letter in our editor, enter the recipient address and click send. We take care of the rest.
No, briefsenden.com runs entirely in your browser. You do not need to install any software.
Letters received before 4 pm (German time) are processed the same day. Deutsche Post usually delivers on the next working day.
Yes. Your letter contents are processed on servers in Germany and transferred encrypted. We offer a data processing agreement (DPA).
No, none of these. briefsenden.com is a full service: we print your document on high-quality 80 g paper, put it in a window envelope and frank it by machine. All you need is a PDF, or you create your letter in the browser editor.
Yes. Your letters are delivered by Deutsche Post – the same way as mail you post in person at a branch. Delivery usually takes place on the next working day. For the recipient there is no difference.
We accept PDF files in A4 format. The dashboard automatically fits pages in other sizes to A4 when you upload them. You can also create letters directly in the browser with our editor.
Yes, we offer Deutsche Post registered mail (Einschreiben) as standard, drop-off (Einwurf) and with return receipt (Rückschein). Registered mail is only available within Germany.
An Einschreiben is a Deutsche Post letter with a tracking number and documented delivery. Deutsche Post records posting and delivery, you can follow the tracking history online and show that and when the letter arrived. There are three types: the Einschreiben (handed over against a signature), the Einschreiben Einwurf (documented delivery into the letterbox or PO box) and the Einschreiben with Rückschein (you receive the signed acknowledgement of receipt back by post). Registered mail suits terminations, reminders, objections and any letter whose delivery you need to document.
With an Einschreiben the postal worker hands the letter only to the recipient or an authorised person, against a signature. If nobody is in, they leave a notice and the letter waits seven working days for collection at the branch. With an Einschreiben Einwurf the postal worker puts the letter into the letterbox or PO box and documents when it was delivered. No signature is needed. The Einwurf version is cheaper and arrives even if the recipient is not at home or would refuse to accept it. That is why we recommend it for terminations.
Simplex: single-sided printing. Duplex: double-sided printing – saves paper and postage for letters with several pages.
A letter can be cancelled as long as it has not yet been handed over to Deutsche Post.
Upload a PDF as a template and a CSV file with addresses. The system automatically creates an individual letter for each recipient.
Dialogpost is a Deutsche Post product for bulk mailings from 5,000 items with significantly reduced postage.
Letters submitted before 4 pm are handed over to Deutsche Post the same day. Delivery usually takes place on the next working day. Unlike at a post office, you never queue.

Yes, recipients outside Germany are possible for a postage surcharge in coins. Choose the recipient country and check the cost before you send. Registered mail abroad is not offered.
We print on 80 g/m² quality paper with professional industrial printers. The print quality meets the Deutsche Post standard for business mail.
Yes. Our system reads the recipient address automatically from the address window of your PDF. If your letter has a standard address window, the address is detected by OCR and pre-filled. You can check the detected address before sending and correct it if needed.
Yes. You can create as many sender profiles as you like – each with its own name, address and optionally its own cover page as a PDF that goes in front of every letter with this profile. When sending, you simply pick the profile you want.
For terminations we recommend the Einschreiben Einwurf. The postal worker documents delivery into the letterbox even if the recipient is not at home. With the standard Einschreiben there is a risk that the recipient refuses it or is not found. As evidence of delivery you use the delivery receipt, which you request from Deutsche Post with the tracking number from your dashboard. According to a ruling of the German Federal Labour Court of 30 January 2025, the tracking status alone is not enough. Terminations of employment contracts and residential leases require the written form with a handwritten signature on the original. You sign these by hand and post them yourself as registered mail.
Your dashboard shows the tracking number of your registered letter with a link to tracking and the latest reported delivery status. You request the delivery receipt, which documents delivery, from Deutsche Post with this tracking number. With an Einschreiben with Rückschein you also receive the signed acknowledgement of receipt by post at the address of your sender profile.
