Email-to-Letter – send a letter by email

The address is created automatically when you sign up. You find it in the dashboard under Einstellungen → E-Mail (Settings → Email). The format is abc123@send.briefsenden.com with a 6-character random code.

PDF files only. The system recognises PDFs by MIME type (application/pdf) or file extension (.pdf). All other attachments are ignored automatically. The maximum size is 25 MB per email.

No. The recipient address is read automatically from the PDF window area by OCR – exactly as with a normal single letter upload. Your PDF just needs an address field in the standard window position.

Each PDF attachment is processed and sent as a separate letter. With 3 PDF attachments, 3 individual letters are created. Non-PDF attachments are ignored. You receive a summary by email.

By default only you (your account email). In the dashboard you can add up to 20 further email addresses or whole domains (e.g. @mycompany.com) as allowed senders. Emails from unauthorised senders are silently discarded.

In the dashboard under Einstellungen → E-Mail (Settings → Email) you set your default options once: colour or black and white, simplex or duplex and optionally the registered mail type. These settings then apply automatically to all letters triggered by email.

No, only when you send for real. If test mode is active in your account, letters triggered by email are also created as test letters: they are not printed, sent or charged. Without test mode they are actually sent and charged.

You receive an email with the specific reason, for example no PDF attachments found, insufficient balance or processing failed. On partial success (e.g. 2 of 3 PDFs sent) you receive both a success and an error message.
